
The Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons
invites you to apply for membership!
SESPRS membership benefits each physician by providing a variety of live educational programs, CME credits with all SESPRS sponsored meetings, committed board members, discounted meeting registration, committee volunteer opportunities, potential abstract acceptance and speaker opportunities, members-only access to member data and Society information, newsletters, scholarship and educational grant offerings, mentorship programs, low membership dues, networking, social media and much more.
Currently, SESPRS offers two classes of membership for which physicians and residents may apply: Candidate Membership and Active Membership.

CANDIDATE MEMBERSHIP
Eligibility:
Applicants for Candidate Membership MUST meet the following criteria:
- A resident physician or fellow in training in an ABMS approved plastic surgery training program in one of the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee or Virginia and Caribbean, OR
- A physician, having satisfactorily completed approved formal training as outlined by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, who is not yet board certified and is practicing in one of the member states/areas listed above, OR
- A physician, having completed a recognized plastic surgery training program, who is now in training in an advanced fellowship (i.e. hand, microsurgery, craniofacial, aesthetic etc) in one of the member states/areas mentioned above.
Application Requirements:
- Submit a completed application form. This may be obtained from the Society office, or you may click on the link above. Forward or submit a current photo. An electronic copy of your photo is preferred. Submit an application fee of $25.00.
- Have your program director submit a letter of recommendation attesting to your good standing in the training program. Those who have completed training must submit a letter from your program director attesting to the satisfactory completion of that training.
Application deadlines are noted on the application. For candidate members to become active, we must receive proof of ABPS Certification which will be reviewed by our board.
ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP
Eligibility:
Applicants for Active Membership MUST meet the following criteria:
- Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery,
- Actively engaged in the practice of plastic and reconstructive surgery in one of the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia; or in Caribbean countries which are not within the geographical boundaries of any other regional society.
- Active members who relocate out of the geographical area of the Society, and if still actively engaged in the practice of plastic surgery, will be permitted rights and all privileges of Active membership except they will not be permitted to hold office on the Executive Committee.
- Any actively practicing board-certified plastic surgeon who has successfully completed a plastic surgery residency or recognized fellowship in one of the Southeastern states (Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee or Virginia) training programs may apply for Active Membership even if they reside outside the Southeastern States or the Caribbean. These applicants must submit a completed application to the Membership Committee and have their Southeastern program/fellowship director submit a letter of recommendation attesting to their satisfactory completion of the program/fellowship. These members will have all rights and privileges of Active Membership except he/she may not hold office on the Executive Committee.
- Be of high moral and professional character.

- Provide a letter of recommendation from any sponsoring member of the SESPRS. If you need assistance in verifying a colleague’s membership status, please contact the Society offices.

LIFE MEMBERSHIP
Eligibility:
Life members enjoy full privileges of membership. No dues are required for Life Members.
Life Membership may be conferred upon Active Members of the Society in any one of the following circumstances:
- Voluntary retirement from active practice after ten (10) years of Active Membership
in the Society. - Permanent disability.
Those wishing to become Life Members, must submit a formal letter to the Society office. Documentation shall be reviewed by the Membership Committee, which then forwards their recommendation to the Executive Committee for approval.
