Learn more about The Southeastern Society

The SESPRS was established in 1958 by pioneers of Plastic Surgery and continues today as one of the premier societies of Plastic Surgery and Medicine.

It is an assemblage of like-minded surgeons who are devoted to life long learning, education, research and their patients, but also their friends, families, and colleagues.

Our members are committed to success but equally aware of the conundrums we have yet to solve. The members are honest, sometimes to a fault, but that leads to lively and collegial discussions.

The society has a strong commitment to innovation and research. It provides grant and fellowship funding. Resident inclusion is a priority. Humanitarian issues always find an open mind and listening ear. It strives to widen the horizons of Plastic Surgery now, and for the future.

The academic aspects of the meetings are focused on cogent and current questions in plastic surgery. This provides an excellent mix of aesthetic and reconstructive exposure in the programs. Critical, honest, thoughtful, well meaning, comments and analysis are encouraged in an open forum.

The social aspects of the meetings allow an uncommon intimacy and tutelage from colleagues and national leaders. The format encourages all participants and their families to interact on different levels, developing lasting mentors and friendships.

The SESPRS is one of the few societies where the playing ground is level, no matter your training level, skill or experience. Ego is left at the door in deference to knowledge, education, honesty, patients, family and the future of plastic surgery.

The members are comrades at arms intent on exploring new horizons in the fellowship of colleagues and families, which is certainly a diamond in the rough in today's complex world.
